Promise

Dear Love,

I promise to love you everyday,
With me your life will never be grey,
Joys or sorrows, come what may,
With you I always want to stay.

I promise to never leave your side,
Nor there will be anything I'll hide.
When you are confused, I'll be your guide,
And you will always be my pride.

I promise to be faithful to you,
To laugh with you and cry with you.
Even when I lose my way, to run back to you,
To hold you close and walk with you.

I promise to love you forever,
Every single moment of forever,
And if you want to give me something to remember,
Would you promise to leave me never?

A Shopaholic's Shopping Saga!

Whenever my mood is down,
And the world feels less of fun
There is one thing that never fails,
Shopping can lift my spirits again.

The wide range of products
And the unlimited choices I get!
Who said shopping is waste of time,
In my view, it's nothing short of heaven.

Oh that beautiful pearl set,
It will look beautiful I bet!
May be some matching clutch,
Of course! It would be a perfect match.

Oh what a pretty dress!
Its made just for me, I guess
There goes a matching stiletto,
Maybe what I just needed to go!

Wait! I forgot the books!
One or two, maybe more books.
The offers are so good to just let them go,
Add 'em all to the cart; lets go!

Go to the cart, lets check out
Seeing the bill I get a mini heart attack!
Not now, maybe some other time
And yet again, I promptly empty the cart!

Until the next post,
Keep Smiling :)

Swathi :)

Techno Tribute!

Sitting at my desk,
I try to write my graduation speech.
Who should all I thank?
What in my life did they teach?

I would love to thank Google,
Who answered all my questions patiently!
Without whose help and guidance
I could never have passed definitely!

I would thank dear Wikipedia,
For sharing all those information!
Little changes were all I had to make,
And my assignments were near perfection!

Whats app, Facebook and Camera,
They helped us share homework!
Oh how can I forget the Xerox machine?
It helped to reduce the pile of work!

Online notes, PDFs and class groups,
They were all I needed!
Without which I don’t think
I could have ever succeeded!

I would like to offer my hearty thanks
To this wonderful technology!
I would never have graduated,
If not for its abundant help and generosity!

Two Faced People - A Puente Poem

They smile at you with glee,
And all your worries flee!
Wiping away your tears, and
Lending you a comforting shoulder,

~They make you feel ill at ease~

But that’s not really the part of the deal,
They don’t care a bit how you feel!
All they need is the juicy gossip,
Which they will use for their own profit!

*************************

Had read about this poetry style last month at Poetry Jam but hadn't got time to experiment with it. Finally here is my try at Puente poem!

About Puente Poem:

A poetic form, the Puente (which means bridge in Spanish), uses a one line "bridge" to connect the first and last stanzas. Here's how it works:
- 3 stanzas
- Stanzas 1 and 3 contain different ideas, thoughts
- Stanzas 1 and 3 consist of the same number of lines (meter and/or rhyming up to poet)
- Stanza 2 connects meaning from first to last stanza
- Stanza 2 must be one line enclosed in tildes ( ~ )
- Stanza 2 is the last line of Stanza 1 and first line of Stanza 3

An Impossible Place!

Take me there,
Where only hope prevails,
Disappointments always fails!

Take me there,
Where happiness is dominant,
Only smiles are prominent.

Take me there,
Where tears are temporary,
And failures are unheard of!

Take me there,
Where fears don't exist,
And quitting is not an option!

Take me back,
To the days of innocence,
To the childhood that was carefree!

Oh I wish so much,
That I could go back,
And re-live those days again!

The Dark One!

He wanders in the dark,
Alone in the secluded park.
Gliding quietly like the mist,
Looking out for his tryst.

Eyes shining in the moon light,
As they scan through the night.
A pale smile crosses his face,
Adding more charm to his grace.

In the hunt he was immersed,
Waiting for quenching his thirst.
Watching out intently for the prey,
The predator's eyes never looking away!

He grabs the passerby in a sec,
Piercing right through her neck!
He sinks his fangs in her vein,
And enjoys as she withers in pain.

As he licks away the blood that drips,
A smile adorns his beautiful lips.
Hiding his fangs behind that smile,
The dark one glides away in style.

Last Day of Life!!

It is 6 in the morning and I am still wide awake. I hadn't got even an ounce of sleep whole night. The whole excitement and the joy of carnival had worn off. The psychic reading was a bad choice; I shouldn't have went for it. I had always avoided such things; I thought they were silly but in the spur of moment and amidst friends' force, I had got my reading and it had left me shell shocked. "Tomorrow will be the last day of your life" the psychic woman had told. I had kept it to myself, not telling my friends who were waiting outside. I had tried to brush it off as unimportant, the line kept echoing in my mind and I had lost my whole night's sleep, dreading the coming day.

I got up and decided to face it. The prediction might have been wrong, maybe it was a mistake, but if it was right, then I didn't want to spend my last day crying; I wanted to live it to the fullest. I thought of all the dreams I had.

Travelling places near and far,
Maybe signing some autographs!
Grow high and touch the sky,
And live life King size!

See my parents beam with pride,
As I become famous worldwide.
Search the planet far and wide,
And find the love of my life!

A tear escaped my eye as I thought of these dreams and many more. But there was no time to fulfill any of these. 'I should be calm' I thought wiping away my tears. There should be something, anything that would look good in the present scenario. Well I didn't have to read for the pending exams; That should be a good thing right? I sighed. Jokes apart, I should be concentrating on important things. After all time isn't a luxury I can afford now. 'There should be something that I could do to make my last day worth while' I thought.

Spend time with the people I love,
I know for them tomorrow would be tough.
Smile and spread some happiness,
They shouldn't notice the emptiness.

I should do some good deed,
Maybe help somebody in need.
That way I will be remembered after death,
As somebody who was kind till last breath.

I was brought out of my reverie when my best friend called.  "Hey can we hang out? I am bored to death" she says. I almost laugh at the irony. She was talking so casually about death which I was dreading. But then I thought how this could be my last chance and agreed to meet her up in the evening. I spent the rest of the day with my family. I wrote a few letters, penning down my feelings and love for them which I couldn't say out loud and kept them in my drawer where I knew my brother would find it.

Later in the evening I leave for my friend's home. When I reach there, she appeared to be in good mood. We chatted for some time and I felt like it was just another normal day. I suddenly felt like I couldn't hold on to the secret anymore and decided to tell her about the reading. When I finished telling everything and told her how much I love her, she burst out laughing. I didn't understand her reaction. Wasn't she sad hearing the news or did she think I was kidding? "Riya its the truth" I said, a tear escaping my eye. But that only made her laugh more and slowly one by one all my friends started coming out from where they were hiding. "What is going on?" I ask confused. "Look at you!" said on of my friend still laughing. "I thought you didn't believe in those readings but figures you do!" he said. "Well..." I start but trail off not knowing what to say.

"Enough guys. Else she will die out of heart attack now" said Riya and she turned towards me. "Look we are really sorry but this whole psychic reading was Avi's prank. The woman agreed to give a false reading after he coaxed her but we had no idea you would take it so seriously. Now don't get angry please" she said looking at me like she was anticipating a burst out. I looked at them for few moments without speaking and after what seemed like eternity, I burst out laughing. "Oh Riya! I am so glad it was a prank and not reality" I said hugging her tight. And as for the anger, well thinking it was my last day had made me realize how short and unpredictable life could be. So I chose to laugh about it and enjoy life when I still had a chance. After all, every moment was precious!

Friendship

In the journey of life,
Through joys and strife!
You always stood by my side,
When in need you never denied.

Silly fights and endless chatter,
We never got tired of all those banter.
It seemed like the world was ours to conquer,
With each day our friendship grew stronger.

Then the time came by,
When we had to say good bye.
Suddenly I was on my own,
Without you, I felt so alone.

Days, months and years passed by,
Without hearing anything from thy!
Cursing the fate that drifted us apart,
I lived with your memories in my heart.

Then one day you called out of the blue,
Which made me wonder if destiny is true!
Just like before smiles were exchanged,
It was like nothing had ever changed.

Rains!

The heat of the summer,
Becoming unbearable everyday!
All the fun and laughter,
Seems to have evaporated as well!

The joy of watching the rain,
Sitting curled up near the window.
Or maybe going out for once
And enjoying the dance in the rain.

That lovely smell of mud,
And the hot cup of coffee.
The relief as the heat fades away,
Putting an end to our torment!

The beauty of mother earth
As she blossoms with joy!
It definitely is a sight to see,
Oh how I miss them all!

I look up at the sky longingly,
And wish it would rain soon.
Washing away the unbearable heat
And bringing smiles again.

X for Xenophobia!!

He looks at her with eyes full of love,
Wishing he could hold her once!
She was looking so fascinating to him,
Ever since she had come home that dawn.

Pleading with his eyes he bends again,
Urging her not to cry this time
But just as he was about to pick her up,
She started screaming at the top of her voice!

Her mom came running and he hid again,
For he felt ashamed on his part!
All he wanted was to just hold her once,
But she seemed afraid and reluctant of that!

Don’t be guilty; it's not your fault,
Said the girl's mom consoling him later.
Babies are afraid of the unknown people,
But she will soon start recognizing her brother!

The boy felt at ease hearing those words,
For he was afraid of having hurt the girl.
How could he understand about xenophobia?
When the poor boy was himself just five!

U for Uncertainty!!

That was awesome,
There is magic in your hands!
You can conquer the world,
You are one of a kind.

She smiled at her spouse,
For her heart felt proud.
But that wasn't enough,
As uncertainty loomed behind.

Can I? She wondered!
Not once believing in herself.
Adept she was in cooking,
But doubt blinding her judgement.

Time passed by
And things slowly changed.
Situations and hardships,
Made her go with the trend.

From just a mom that she was,
To the queen of edible world!
She smiled plating the viscous liquid,
The transformation unbelievable!

R for Regret!!

She cries out loudly,
As she remembers the past!
For a millionth time again,
She regrets her part!

She craves for a second chance,
To set things right!
She wishes to go back,
As she longs for her better half!

I wish I wouldn't have done it!
I shouldn't have fought!
Neither he would have gone out,
Nor would he have died!

It wasn't your mistake,
She was told by her friends!
It was just an accident,
Which you can do nothing to mend!

She tries to believe it,
That it wasn't her fault!
But! Oh but! She longs afresh,
As the flames of regret lash at her heart!

O for Optimism!!

She watched her daughter blush,
As she said 'I do' at the altar!
She smiled and congratulated the couple,
Blessing them with an impassioned heart!

She remembered the days,
When she had cried all night.
But every morning had brought a new hope,
As she saw the face of her child.

Walking from door to door,
In search of job to bring up her little one
When giving up seemed better,
The kid’s smile animated hope in her mind!

Sometimes the harshness of people,
And sometimes the pervert souls!
Her life was no less than a challenge,
Being single mother had felt like curse!

The optimist in her had fought all odds,
Day and night, to make her dream come right.
She wiped her sorrows as she thought,
It’s all over and now is a new start!

L for Love!!

He touched my heart,
And left his mark forever!
My eyes still search for him,
Whenever he isn't near!

Looks of a fallen angel,
And eyes of a hypnotist!
Just a smile is what it took,
To make my heart tender!

His fingers so slender,
Yet they seem so gentle!
Whenever they play the melody,
I completely surrender!

What is this sweet feeling?
I wonder by myself.
What else could it ever be?
Its magical, it has to be love!

I take a deep breath as I inch forward
Just a touch to make sure it was all real!
It wasn't needed, mom’s voice came by,
Wake up, you are late already!

I for Inspiration!!

Life seemed difficult, everything felt hard.
Giving up seemed the better option so far!
Wishing for directions, I looked around.
To find something to inspire me to keep moving on!

I look at the night sky,
As moon grows smaller each day!
Still it shines with all its might,
Because it knows this ain't the end.

The tree which stood majestic,
Now standing bare losing all its leaf!
But it’s not afraid, it doesn't fall,
Because it knows the spring will come again!

I watch the honey bee, working hard!
As tiny as it might be in our eyes
Flying from flower to flower, collecting nectar
Though it will be stolen in the end!

Thousands of tiny things, millions of challenges!
If they can do it, then why can’t I?
Yes you can do it! Cried my heart!
I thanked the nature, for the inspiration I found.
